#MyHackathon – My Favourite Hacks Pt 3

//#MyHackathon – My Favourite Hacks Pt 3

It’s Part 3 of the ‘Favourite Hack’s mini blog series, a series of quick fire questions posed at friends, clients, established or aspiring competitive riders relating to their favourite hack destinations.  The series is being run in celebration of the campaign by the Brooke and their #MyHackathon campaign.  If you aren’t aware of this fantastic fundraiser then head over to their site today to see how you can join in with their super simple scheme…

Today’s rider is Karen McConnell.  Karen is a hugely busy lady!  She runs a livery yard (oh and it’s stunning too) that boasts a great equine academy too. She was E-Dressage Equine Professional of the Year 2016. Karen become a Brand Ambassador for Hiho Silver in 2018 and has been a blogger for equine giants, Toggi for sometime. More recently, and very successfully, she has moved into lifestyle blogging too with her.  Somehow manages to find time to be an incredibly dedicated wife and mum of 2 little ones!    She’s flipping lovely too…

Karen McConnell – KA Equestrian

Introduce yourself:
Hi, I’m Karen McConnell and I own and run a busy livery yard in Perthshire Scotland, called KA Equestrian. I have 5 horses of my own too.

Tell me a little about the horse/s in your life, what you do with them and if you have any specific aims (competitive or non-competitive) with them for 2018:
We’ve got 5 in total. 2 ex racehorses, a retired rescue horse and 2 kid’s ponies. I concentrate on dressage with my horses but include a lot of hacking in their routines.

I’d love to hear about your favourite hack location. Where is it & what makes it such a great place.
We are so lucky to have created some super hacking trails on site and the scenery that surrounds us is just beautiful. My favourite thing to do is to wander round the tracks and fields here at home on a warm sunny evening. Total peace and quiet and some quality time with my horses.  My little Jack Russell often comes along too. These are my happy times!
Can we see a photo?
Yes of course.  This is us on one of the tracks around the yard.  You can see the gorgeous hills of Perthshire in the background.
Finally, do you have a message for anyone taking part in The Brooke #MyHackathon this year?
I think the 100 mile campaign is fantastic and a great way to get people out enjoying the countryside on their horses.
Why not keep up with Karen and life at KA Equestrian by following them here on Facebook – KAEquestrian and if you’ve got a love of rural lifestyle then I really recommend digging into her Instagram account Karen and Clan.
Please don’t forget the purpose of this mini series is not only to have a bit of fun and discover some beautiful hacking locations with wonderful people, but to help raise awareness for the #MyHackathon campaign from the Brooke   Every penny raised really does make a difference to this global equine charity, so please do help however you can!

Have a fabulous day!
